Putting Out The Cigarette: More Quit Smoking Aids

Nicotine Patch

Another way an individual may try to address their smoking habit is through the use of a nicotine patch. A nicotine patch is a method in which an adhesive patch is applied to a person’s skin. Generally the area that the patch is applied to is the upper muscle near the shoulder area.

This particular quit smoking aid can be effective as the patch contains nicotine and is time released. This timed release of doses of nicotine help to satisfy the craving for a cigarette. Generally, the patches provide less and less of the nicotine and eventually the individual’s craving for this substance is reduced gradually.

Nicotine Gum

One other quit smoking aid is a nicotine gum product. When the individual has a craving for a cigarette, which is in fact a craving for the nicotine found in a cigarette, they simply place a piece of this nicotine gum in their mouth. This process meets the craving that they desire and therefore negates the need to light up a cigarette.
